Inquire

We take cabins
by correspondence.

There is no online booking. A first inquiry starts a short written back-and-forth — who you are, when you'd like to sail, which coast, which week. Most take a few days to settle.

Questions we get a lot

The short answers,
before the long ones.

The five things every first-time inquiry asks about. If yours isn't here, the Secretary will happily answer it in a reply.

Do I need sailing experience?

+

No. Most first-time members have none. The skipper sails the boat; guests do as much or as little as they want. Some members go home with a helming habit; others go home having read a novel.

How far ahead do I need to book?

+

The season opens each November, and popular weeks fill by January. If you're flexible on the week, we can usually find something two or three months out. Flagship voyages fill first.

Can I bring children?

+

Yes. On the small fleet a family of two is welcome (two guests, so a parent and a child rather than two parents plus). On the Flagship there is room for four; families of four fit both cabins.

What if the weather is bad?

+

The skipper decides the route. We do not sail into weather that would spoil the trip; we sit at anchor for a day or head to a lee coast. Members almost never lose sailing time to bad weather because we plan around it.

What's actually included in the price?

+

Skipper aboard, all meals (usually cooked aboard), wine at dinner, harbor dues and fuel, linen and towels. What isn't included is travel to and from the boat, dinners ashore beyond the ones we include, and any personal spending on land.
