A capable sailor
A recognised offshore certificate (RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, ICC Coastal, or equivalent), a few thousand miles of Mediterranean experience, and the judgment to change plans when the weather does.
Vacancies
The club employs its skippers year-round. We look for sailors who are as comfortable in the galley as they are at the helm, and who treat guests as company rather than passengers.
The role
Every skipper is on their own boat with two guests aboard. The week runs on your judgment — the route, the anchorage, the meals, the evenings. A short list of what that takes:
A capable sailor
A recognised offshore certificate (RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, ICC Coastal, or equivalent), a few thousand miles of Mediterranean experience, and the judgment to change plans when the weather does.
A natural host
You'll spend a week living alongside two guests. Warm, at ease in company, a good storyteller. Guests come home talking about the skipper more than the wind.
A cook aboard
You cook every meal aboard on the small fleet. Simple, generous, and Mediterranean — seafood especially. Comfort with a small galley, a lee-heeled stove, and a market shop is essential.
Fluent English
English is the shared language on every boat. Additional European languages — Dutch, German, French, Italian, Spanish — are a strong plus and open more of the roster to you.
What we offer
Skippers are on payroll all twelve months. You sail May through October, then spend the winter on refits, deliveries, and time off. The sailing is seasonal; the job is not.
You skipper the same handful of boats across a season, so you know each one intimately. On the small fleet you rotate between our two home ports — Palma and Corfu — with travel between them covered.
The team is small enough that you'll know every member by name within a season. Pay is above the Mediterranean charter market, quoted in a single annual figure with no split between salary and tips.
How to apply
Applications are read by the Secretary and the two senior skippers. There is no application form; a short letter and a CV are enough to start. Please include:
01
A short letter about who you are, where you learned to sail, and what draws you to this kind of work.
02
Your CV with sailing tickets, sea miles, and the yachts you've skippered.
03
Languages you speak, and a sentence on the kind of food you cook aboard.
04
Two references from previous skipper or hosting roles, if you can.
Shortlisted candidates are invited for a video call, then a day sail with one of the senior skippers before an offer.
